What are the advantages and disadvantages of Green technology? There are a number of advantages and disadvantages of Green technology. For instance, it is said that this technology has many advantages. One of its advantages is that this technology is said to be very cost effective. Although, this technology is much more costly than other means, the energy consumed by the green technologies is believed to be renewable, thus there is no doubt that the environment will not be devastated in return for the cost incurred.

On the other hand, it is also said that there are some disadvantages of green technology. Some people say that there are some disadvantages of using this technology. One of the disadvantages of using this technology is that it does not allow the sunlight to fall on the earth; therefore the natural resources of the earth are depleted at a fast rate because of the excessive use of this technology. Another disadvantage of using this technology is that it makes the air in the whole atmosphere too clean.

However, some people argue that the advantages and disadvantages of green technology outweigh the disadvantages. They say that there are some advantages of this technology such as, it does not harm the natural resources of the earth, it does not pollute, it does not damage the ozone layer and it can generate heat for some thermal applications. These advantages of green technology are mainly responsible for the increasing demand of this technology all over the world. It is due to these advantages of green technology that there are various environmental companies all over the world producing this technology. Thus, we can say that this technology has many advantages and disadvantages of its own, and in the end, it still depends upon us whether we want to use this technology or not.

The main advantages of using this technology are reducing energy consumption, minimizing waste, and saving resources. It also provides a very positive impact on the building’s sustainability. Below you will read that advantages of green technology that makes it so special. Advantages of Green Technology:

Saving Energy:

Energy saving is a good way to cut down on your energy consumption and environmental pollution which are one of the causes of global warming. This can save us money on energy bills but also help us reduce our dependence on fossil fuels which are hurting the planet irreparably. The following are some of the key advantages of green technology and energy efficiency:

Energy Efficient Use – A more efficient use of energy requires less energy consumption and also, when the demand for energy is low, we can generate enough energy ourselves with wind power or solar power.

More Environment Friendly – Green technologies help to reduce the impact on the environment by the use of renewable resources, conservation of energy and materials, and use of clean fuel.

Less Air Pollution:

The benefits of green technology to the environment and to human health are becoming more widely known and accepted as time passes. Green technologies refer to those technologies that reduce the impact of producing energy and other forms of pollutants into the atmosphere. The major contributors to air pollution include burning fossil fuels such as coal, wood, gas, and oil for energy generation, vehicle emissions such as exhaust from personal transportation and production, agricultural, and forestry activities, and industrial emissions such as toxic emissions from industry. Green technology also refers to the ways in which people can make changes to their lives that will reduce their impact on the environment so that the production of pollutants can be limited. These include choosing appliances and equipment that produce less pollution, driving for energy conservation, recycling materials that would otherwise be wasted, and taking actions to reduce the amount of waste produced. The most promising areas of green technology are the biofuels that can replace traditional fuel sources like petroleum and other petroleum products, and the use of solar and geothermal heat for generating electricity without the use of fossil fuels.

Less of Water Pollution:

A greener environment can mean cleaner air, less water pollution, and healthier people. Today’s environmental crisis is not a natural disaster. It is caused by human activity. Taking the proper precautions to protect the environment is one of the many advantages of green technology.

Prevents Global Warming:

Global Warming

The authors, Robert J. Griswold and Fred K. Smith, explain that global warming is primarily the result of the release of greenhouse gases from burning fossil fuels. They further explain that these gases are pollutants that enter the earth’s atmosphere. After entering the atmosphere, they tend to remain there and are taken into the ocean, which then is consumed by fish, plants, animals, and birds. Although it is difficult to make a direct connection between the presence of these gases in the atmosphere and global warming, it is believed that they are somehow responsible for accelerating climate changes.

Less Soil Pollution:

With the threat of global warming and the depletion of the earth’s natural resources, it’s important to look into ways we can decrease our carbon footprint and, in doing so, reduce our carbon footprint in such a way that will help preserve the earth for future generations. One solution to this problem is to implement less soil pollution by growing food in raised gardens so that we are not constantly adding new polluted soil to the mix.

Decrease Plastic Pollution:

Use Less Plastic

Many people are unaware of the advantages of green technology. Today, there is more awareness about the need to reduce, reuse, and recycle all kinds of waste products. Green technology has many advantages over traditional methods. It’s no surprise that in the United States, the demand for low cost, energy efficient, non-polluting construction materials, and accessories is on the rise.

Save Natural Resources:

In the contemporary society of today, environmental issues have become paramount and we know that we have to save natural resources to enjoy a healthy tomorrow. Nowadays, our society is focused more on individual benefits than on community benefits so it’s no wonder that environmental issues are often neglected or left in the dark. The Earth cannot be saved if we just do not start caring and paying attention to what we’re doing now. With green technology as your guide, you will surely learn about some of the benefits of green technology and how it can help you conserve our natural resources

Disadvantages of Green Technology

  • High Implementation Cost
  • Lack of Knowledge
  • High Product Cost
  • Less jobs in this Sector
  • Technical Issue

What are the disadvantages of green technology? To answer this question we need to look at the technical aspects of green technology. I will discuss some disadvantages of green technology in this article. Some of these technical issues have less to do with green technology itself. It is possible to have less technical knowledge of such topics as a malfunctioning computer, energy-saving light bulbs, and some of the environmental impacts of various types of technologies. It may be difficult for people who have limited technical knowledge of these issues to explain their opinions to the general public about these topics.

What are the disadvantages of green technology are related to the reduction in the use of technical expertise when making the decisions about what type of applications, devices, and technology will be used? A great many of these technological issues result in less technical knowledge and less expertise on the part of the average user of the product or technology. If the public does not understand the impact of a particular technical issue, they are less likely to make changes in their buying habits or their performance expectations for a particular product.

Can a limited technical knowledge cure or prevent all of the various technical problems that exist because of green technology? Some of the major disadvantages of green technology are related to the reduction in computer software and hardware that is available to the average person. When there is a reduction in computer software and hardware, it makes it more difficult for the average person to accomplish typical day-to-day tasks. Even if a person does know how to do a particular task, doing it in a way that uses less computer software or less sophisticated equipment means that the end result will not be as good as using the same type of equipment or software in a different setting. Another disadvantage of using less-advanced technology is that the average user does not know enough about the impact of their purchases to make informed choices. Knowledge of the environmental impact of products and consumption patterns can help individuals make better purchasing decisions concerning green products.

Green Technology has come a long way from the old days. Many new appliances and gadgets are made with recyclable materials which help reduce landfill waste and energy consumption. However, there are some disadvantages of green technology. Read on to know more.

High Implementation Cost:

The Federal grants for green technology programs were recently released and the amount given for research and development was increased to $30 billion. Some say this is great, but some are concerned about the effects of the said program on the economy and how it will affect the businesses in the long run. Others say that the advantages of green technology far outweigh the disadvantages. In order to find out if this program will indeed have good or bad effects on the economy, we must first look into the disadvantages of green technology as it is called, then find out if Hight Implementation Cost is something we should worry about.

Lack of Knowledge:

The global shortage of primary resources such as water, fuel, and precious land is a major concern nowadays. In order to address the problem, many countries are working on different strategies to increase their sources of these natural resources but unfortunately not all countries have the necessary level of expertise or the will to pursue this effort due to the fact that lack of knowledge and awareness makes people put off such projects for the time being. There are several disadvantages of green technology and its importance in the current scenario, which need to be properly understood before a proper decision is taken towards its use.

High Product Cost:

High Product Cost

The use of Green Technology in the context of manufacturing, environmental cleanliness, and promoting public health are three of the most important advantages it can bring. Although high product cost has been one of the main disadvantages of the adoption of this type of technology, this is no longer a problem because it has already been overcome by the advent of Green technologies in the areas of energy, transportation, and medicine. Today, it is estimated that over 5% of the total global expenditure on R&D is dedicated to the discovery and development of new, more efficient and cheaper technologies and methods of managing the external factors involved in global competition.

Less jobs in this Sector:

Less Employment

In a world full of computer work, more people need to be convinced that there are fewer jobs in the green technology sector. The current trend is that more people are learning how to build solar panels, wind turbines, water heating, and other forms of alternative energy. Unfortunately, many of these individuals and businesses cannot afford to put these systems on their own property. Many of them would love to own solar panels to power their houses, but they just can’t afford the materials or know how to do it themselves. This means fewer jobs for the green technology sector.

Technical Issue:

For those who do not have much technical knowledge, or to put it in other words, for those who are not technologically savvy, understanding the above questions can be an important first step before investing in the green technologies. To begin with what is Technical Issues? These are non-technical issues that directly affect the end users and therefore affect their decision making process whether to purchase or not.

Conclusion

When it comes to using renewable resources such as wind, water, and sunlight there are two major questions that arise. These questions are “does it work” and “is it safe?” As with all energy-driven technologies, there are definite advantages and disadvantages of green technology. The purpose of this article is to provide an in-depth overview of the two main arguments against and advantages of green technology. At the end of this article you will have a strong understanding of what the pros and cons are when deciding whether or not to implement green technology into your own home or business.
